Robotics Advanced
Extend your robot journey with line & light sensors, colour-changing LED modules and drawing robots
After you've done Level 1, upgrade your Invent! kit with extra components that we mail out, and then let our tutors teach you even more advanced robotics. You'll start off exploring new sensors including the line follower and light sensor, use the pen holder to make a drawing robot, and use a grid of colour-changing LED lights to create lighting effects and games. We'll also send you our robot map which has a race track that your robot will be able to follow and show you how to make your own race track as well!

Robotics Advanced In Detail
Following on from the first robotics course, the course extends both the level of programming and the functionality of your robot. Over the week, we will create an autonomous line following robot, use a light sensor to program the robot to follow a torch light, draw shapes and patterns with the pen holder and use NeoPixel to control individual LEDs and define their colours.
Our Tutors
We've brought together the best of our tutors to instruct and help the students. They're typically recent graduates or undergraduates studying Engineering or Computer Science at leading Russell-group Universities. Of course they're chosen for their communication and technical skills and have Enhanced DBS checks for working with children.
Our Sessions
Engaging learning must be hands-on. Our 'At Home' programme offer a mix of video tutoring, collaborative learning and self-paced project work during and after the session to make sure that learning is deep, engaging and lasting.

FAQs
My child has no prior experience - can they still attend?
Yes! We don't assume any prior knowledge for our courses. The only exception is if when we run followup courses that are labelled as 'Advanced' or 'Level 2' that normally require the prior course to have been taken. Do ask if you're unsure.
Should my child do anything to prepare for the course?
Do we really have to have the webcam on?
Will they be with similar-aged children?
What do they have to do after each session finishes?
The online course was great and the tutor engaged with the children and helped them calmly and effectively - we were not needed at all. My son really enjoyed the course and did all of the extra challenges too.
