All Courses

We don't believe in easy.  When other camps do courses like robotics the robot stays in the classroom after you've left.  With us, you take it home. We do real engineering with advanced projects in both software and hardware courses, so a week of camp is just the start of your learning, not the end.

3D Game Design

Do you want to learn how to make games or want to take your game design skills to the next level? Learn how to design and code high-quality 3D games with Unity, the game engine used by professional game developers all over the world and that powers over half of the world's games...

After your gaming camp is finished, take your completed video game home as well as the Unity software to continue your adventures!

This is a great choice for a young person who is obsessed with games. Teach them about designing their own games instead of just playing them!

3D Printing 1

Looking for an exciting engineering camp with an emphasis on design and practical skills? Our 3D printing course teaches you how to build, modify and repair your own 3D printer.

After building the printer, learn 3D design to make your own creations. Of course, you'll take home everything including your 3D printer.

We run this course at several levels.  Everyone firsts builds their printers. Then the younger campers start with an intuitive drag-and-drop 3D modelling environment, whilst older campers use professional-level 3D CAD software (Fusion 360).

We're using a brand new printer in 2024 which has a self-levelling bed making printing even easier!

3D Printing 2

If you've already done our 3D Printing 1 course, but are mad keen on design and 3D printers, you might like to try a harder version of the course and get your hands on our new 3D printer at the same time.

Campers who have previously done the junior version of the course using Tinkercad will upgrade their skills by learning Fusion 360, as used by professional engineers.

If you already have done the 'Fusion 360' version of the course, we've got an even more advanced version that will teach real product design skills, including adding features like ribs, bosses, snap catches, joints and assemblies. Along the way you'll design a water bottle, a replaceable-bit screwdriver (complete with bits that we provide), use flexible filament and much more.

This course is strictly for campers who have done 3D Printing 1. When booking this version of '3D Printing' you should select the 'Level 2' option on checkout.

Car Engineering

You'll construct a miniature RC car & customised control system by hacking into an electronic steering wheel and pedal system.  Together with an FPV camera and headset, you'll have the ultimate racing experience.

This is no simulator. You'll feel like you're in the cockpit of a real race car – albeit a miniature one - so you'll have to hone your driving skills to avoid crashing your vehicle.

This is also no toy. With a computerised transmitter (a motion-controlled steering wheel) and a computerised receiver, you can customise every aspect of the driving experience from menus to steering, speed, and custom moves.

Drone Racing 2

If you've already done our Drone Racing 1 course, this will take your skills to the next level. Take charge of a high-speed drone complete with recording camera to enter the world of drone cinematography.

As with our introductory course, you'll learn about drone physics, hone your skills even more on a flight simulator, learn how to maintain your drone, and build our V2.0 LED hoop. However this time, you'll build your drone from the ground-up and learn how to connect brushless motors, cameras and a flight controller.

This course is strictly for those who have done Drone Racing 1, as you'll need your transmitter, headset, and (most importantly) FPV drone flying skills. When booking this version of 'Drone Racing' you should select the 'Level 2' option on checkout.

Gadget Inventor

Do you like gadgets, technology and creating things?  What if you could invent advanced electronic gadgets by just connecting components and dragging and dropping?  You'll be given a sophisticated 'embedded computer' - yours to take home - and you'll use it with a class set containing a wide ray of components from thermal imaging cameras to laser range finders, GPS modules and environmental gas sensors.  We'll send you details of where you can purchase these inexpensive sensors at the end of camp so you can continue inventing.

Want to create a remote control timer?  How about an electronic lock box that could only be opened when taken to a specific location on the planet?  These and many more are possible after you take this course.

GameMaker

If you like playing games but want to find out about designing your own, this is the perfect introductory course. Using GameMaker software allows you to create professional-looking games quickly.

You'll be using GameMaker's in-built GML visual system to start creating games without code. GameMaker has an in-built image editor for designing your own sprites (graphical characters), manipulating sound effects and even handling animations. GameMaker can be used for creating PC, Android, iOS and even HTML5 games.

You'll work through tutorials to teach you the core skills as you create two games - a maze-based game with "bots" and a simple platformer. After that, it's up to you to use what you've learnt to create your own exciting game with the help of your tutor.

Laser Tag

Do you like gadgets and technology & designing and building things? Build the most advanced wireless Laser Tag system available. You'll build two taggers, and an additional two electronic 'beacons' that can be programmed as health or ammo packs, domination and capture-the flag bases and more. You'll design your own custom shape for your taggers, and create your own customised Laser Tag experience by hacking the software!

You'll learn soldering, model-making techniques and coding, and as with all Tech Camp courses, you'll take everything home to continue your tech adventures yourself and with your friends. After camp you can continue adding accessories and modding the software.

Python AI

Learn Python and AI as you build and code your own personal assistant.  You'll learn about neural networks and deep learning and write programs that recognise objects, faces, and more. You'll be given sophisticated hardware including an AI board with camera, screen and audio player.  Along the way you'll use it to create many fun projects, including a face-recognising security alarm, a music player and even a handheld gaming system.

For this course you do need basic Python skills already but it doesn't involve complex mathematics - all learning is project-based with a 'hands-on' style.

Robotics

Test your programming and design skills against other campers - complete robotics challenges throughout the week, both solo and in teams, to become the Robotics champion!

Construct and program autonomous and remote-control robots to play robot football, navigate obstacle courses and speed around race tacks. Then compete in capture-the-flag challenges, and add a laser tag cannon to take out your opponents' machines.

For our 2024 events, we'll be using our brand new custom-designed Invent! robot. It has in-built Wifi, stepper motors for accurate motion (and even drawing), Lego compatibility and much more. Code using Python or drag-and-drop, add advanced sensors and modules to your robot, and of course, take home all of your kit to continue your robotic explorations after the camp.
